La Casita Center
La Casita Center, Louisville, Kentucky. The CAPN worked alongside Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C) to design and build this natural playground, funded by Metro United Way investments and Early Learning ARPA funds from Louisville Metro Government.
La Casita Center is a non-profit organization in Old Louisville dedicated to empowering families in the Latinx community. Through a partnership with Metro United Way, grant funds were dedicated to the design and construction of a new nature playground where an old metal playground stood. This project would enliven the outdoor space used by families and camps that the Center serves.

An entrance arch made of natural branches was built at the gate to lead children into their new playground, which included a mud kitchen, climbing hill and slide, and clubhouse.

Swings were determined to be one of the most-desired features to be included on the playground, giving children an opportunity for movement.

We worked with the families who visit La Casita Center to determine what play features they would most like to see, using tools such a “dot voting”.
