They Hardly Hit the Ground Before Forts Were Built

Today we added 125 clean milk crates to Playcosystem. (A donation from Against the Grain Brewery) We pulled the truck up to the fence at Playcosystem and started tossing them into the playground. Those crates no sooner hit the ground than the 75 or so kids started building with them. This is an experiment. In general we have a philosophy that eschews plastics. However, if the play value is high and they don’t too seriously distract from the natural materials palette, we will certainly experiment with them. Stay posted for what the children turn these crates into. Here are a few photos from the first five minutes. Literally.
