All children encounter some level of stress. Some children experience daily stresses that can lead to lasting trauma and poor health. Providing opportunities for play is one way to improve cognitive, physical, social, and emotional health and can be an important way to build children’s resilience. Participants will discover easy-to-implement strategies to value play as an important part of childhood. Think of this workshop as your permission slip to use play to interact and support the children you serve. This training is state-approved for ECE-TRIS professional development hours for early learning educators.

Providing appropriate opportunities for children to understand, identify, navigate and experience risk through play is a necessary part of healthy child development. Participants will discover the critical difference between hazard and risk and how to apply that understanding to outdoor play environments. Through media presentations, small group activities and large group conversations participants will gain knowledge that can be put to immediate use in providing and managing children in play that allows for risk without compromising safety .This training is state-approved for ECE-TRIS professional development hours for early learning educators.
