Seeds for Urban Play – Free Play Day at Brandeis Apartments
Friday, October 12 from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
925 South 26th Street, Louisville, KY 40210
Seeds for Urban Play is an effort of the Children at Play Network to bring more free-play into urban communities. Over the past year we have been hard at work with our partners New Directions Housing Corporation and ChooseWell Communities to train free play facilitators that will plan, host and staff their OWN play events in Louisville. The team recently purchased lots of great loose-parts for the first play event which took place in September at Hughlett Temple A.M.E. Zion Church in the Russell neighborhood.
Join us on Friday, October 12th for what promises to be another great evening of play and community. Just show up and join in on the fun. The more the merrier. If weather is threatening watch this website for last minute updates.
Seeds for Urban Play is supported generously by Brown-Forman Corporation. We thank them for investing in the health of Louisville’s urban communities.
Here’s what the fun looked like at the last play day. Join us for the next.
“Participating in free play as a facilitator, gave us the opportunity to observe, let the children run wild with their imagination and be creative, guide and let them lead. Overall it had a positive outcome on our children and youth; it gave them the opportunity to have control of something and not feeling like it has to be corrected; but the feeling that they are in lead.” – Felicia Pennerman, Youth Service Assistant, New Directions Housing Corporation
